Every number below is an order-of-magnitude range observed across the Paris and Île-de-France market for 2026. These are ranges observed, not quotations: your real figure depends on season, headcount, day of the week and how much of the evening you want handled for you.
The line items behind a Paris wedding budget
Most Paris wedding budgets break down along the same lines. Knowing the shape of each helps you decide where to concentrate spend and where a lighter touch is fine.
- Venue hire: a private hôtel particulier or a château in Île-de-France typically runs 10,000–40,000 EUR for exclusive use of the day, before catering. Palace hotels usually fold the room into a per-guest package instead.
- Catering, per head: palace hotels and top houses sit around 300–650 EUR per guest for a seated dinner with wine and service. A château with an outside traiteur can land lower, but rarely below the low-200s once staff and rentals are counted.
- Photography: a full wedding day with an established photographer, and often a second shooter, generally falls between 3,500 and 9,000 EUR. Film, albums and a next-day shoot at dawn push the upper end.
- Transport: chauffeur-driven cars for the couple and close family are usually costed by the vehicle and the hours, not per person — plan for a comfortable half-day to full-day booking per car.
- Planning and coordination: full planning is commonly 10–15% of the total budget. On a larger wedding that is not a luxury line; it is the person who keeps forty moving parts on time.
Paris wedding venues, by category
Rather than chase a single famous address, it pays to think in categories, because each carries a different cost logic.
- Palace hotels: turnkey, per-guest, and the least logistics for you. The premium buys service depth and a fallback for weather.
- Hôtels particuliers: private mansions hired bare, where the venue is a shell and you build the rest. More freedom, more coordination.
- Châteaux of Île-de-France: space, grounds and a country feel within an hour of the city, usually with accommodation for the core party.
- The Seine: a private péniche or riverboat, where the view is the décor and the guest count is capped by the deck.
Three worked budgets: intimate, mid-size and grand
The clearest way to read Paris pricing is by whole-day scenario. Again, ranges observed, not quotations.
- Intimate (up to ~20 guests): a symbolic ceremony, a private dining room and a photographer for the day. Roughly 25,000–45,000 EUR all in, with catering and photography as the largest shares.
- Mid-size (60–90 guests): a hôtel particulier or château, full catering, planning, flowers, music and transport. Commonly 90,000–180,000 EUR, where the per-head figure does most of the work.
- Grand (150+ guests, multi-day): exclusive-use venue, a welcome dinner, the wedding day and a brunch, with production and entertainment. 350,000 EUR and well beyond, driven by headcount, staging and the number of days.
Elopement, symbolic ceremonies and the legal footnote
One point catches many international couples out. A civil marriage in France requires that at least one partner has lived in the commune for one continuous month before the banns are published. In practice, almost all couples from abroad complete the legally binding civil marriage in their home country, then hold a symbolic ceremony in Paris — the vows, the setting and the celebration, without the town-hall residency.
